Thank you for considering making a financial contribution to ELTOC.

As a non-profit, charitable organization, English Language Tutoring for the Ottawa Community (ELTOC)  receives approximately 95% of its budgetary requirement in the form of grants from Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) under its Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) program.  This funding has been provided since ELTOC’s inception and we are extremely appreciative of it.  However, there are certain administrative and operational costs which are not eligible for support under LINC funding criteria.  As a result, these additional costs must be addressed through fundraising efforts and donation assistance.  Of particular concern, are programs to support newcomers after they are no longer eligible for LINC funding.

According to LINC eligibility guidelines, ELTOC can only provide tutoring help to those newcomers who are landed immigrants and convention refugees. Once they become Canadian citizens, they are no longer eligible for the LINC program.

However, on a daily basis we at ELTOC meet many newcomers, who even after receiving their citizenship, feel the need to continue to learn survival English, for economical and social purposes.  By charging a nominal fee, ELTOC now, is helping this population only in a small way, through small group classes. However, ELTOC has plans to extend its program to include all newcomers in English language need, irrespective of their status in Canada. Any financial help will take ELTOC that much closer to the fruition of this plan.

ELTOC also appreciates any help in kind, for example, donation of office equipment, help with technical expertise or with certain administrative duties.

Any donation is invaluable and is acknowledged with receipt for tax purposes. You may also wish to channel your donation to ELTOC through the United Way.
